8 things you missed at the 2nd BDJ Women Summit

(2017 March 25) One intimate event dedicated to the appreciation of women and their challenges held just in time with the Women’s month celebration. Centralizing on the theme ‘Woman Can, Women Will,’ the 2nd Belle De Jour Women Summit at the SM Aura Samsung Hall featured eight powerful women who paved their way to success through their life-changing stories—leaving the audience with inspiring bits and pieces of how hard times would be stepping stone to achieving success!

Thematic talks and timely issues

The lineup is sub-divided into three plenary sessions including the following:

- Plenary 1: Unleashing the power within

Ms. Abbygale Arena-De Leon, a Certified Image Consultant and Binibining Pilipinas 1997 - She revealed the secrets on how to look good by simply checking a few factors! More than that, she spilled a way to create that perfect looking smile!

Jodi Sta. Maria, Actress - ‘Dream’ is a word equally important with the word passion! Thus, these two words are actually tandem to make a perfect solution for success like Ms. Jodi.

Hidilyn Diaz, Silver Olympic Medalist, Rio 2016 Olympics - Failures can be a source of new strength to stand up again and reach your goal! With her story, she inspired more youth and athletes to stand out and represent women and our own country in a prestigious event like the Olympics! Personally, I have a great attachment to her story as I am an athlete myself!

- Plenary 2: Make it big with something small

Rebecca Bustamante-Mills, OFW turned businesswoman - Ms. Rebecca proved that no matter what type of life you lived before, for as long as you give it your best shot, great things will follow and that includes success! Also, give yourself a timeline on everything so you know your progress.

Pia Gladys Perey, Internationally Acclaimed fashion designer - Believe in yourself is the highlight of her sharing. Never let even the small imperfections of you become a hindrance to what you can do! Who knows? You can also dress Hollywood stars in the future!

Plenary 3: Be the driving force to positive change

Danah and Stacey Gutierrez, Editor-in-chief of Plump.ph - A ‘millenial’ approach on body positivity kicked off the talks of the twins who experienced uncomfortable social situations due to their body shapes. On the other hand, this is also the reason why they started their online web magazine reaching out more women to love their bodies no matter what shape and size it is.

Jaymie Pizarro, TheBullRunner.com - What is your passion and how did it help you achieve your calling in life? Motivations coming from her experiences as a marathon runner boosted her confidence to join more competitions and open another field of interest for her including her online blog which became a platform for runners to get to know more about their future events.

The bag for the summer kit is literally overflowing with goods! T’was actually my first time attending an event with this much giveaways ranging from branded snacks up to well known beauty products! Aside from that, partner sponsors raffled out too much items that it consumed almost an hour to pick all the winners! I noticed that more than half of the attendees won in the raffle! The event is literally no joke!

Organization Booths

Partnered organizations and sponsors got to showcase their advocacies and products inside the Samsung Hall. Even some of the advocacy group hands their promotional goodies like fan and pins! This is also where you can buy handmade crafts made from indigenous materials.

Ahon sa Hirap Inc (Rise from poverty) will be the beneficiary of the event! Aside from learning, you’ve got to help charitable institution! What else could you ask for? It’s the best way to celebrate women’s month!

Indeed, this day is one of a kind and I’ll definitely attend next year’s event! Can’t wait!
