Where to eat in Bataan? Best restaurants near Mt. Samat (Balanga and Pilar)

The best part of traveling? Of course, it's the food crawl! The food here is fresh as most of their items are from Bataan itself! Here are 10 best places to eat before or after you visit Mt. Samat.

Before visiting Bataan, I got reviews from my friends and family members that there's plenty of seafood available in that province. To my surprise, when we visited, they seemed to be like the normal Metro Manila cuisines but with a variety of flavors and ingredients incorporated to it. Of course, there is seafood but I enjoyed the other dishes more as I am not that much a seafood fan!

1. Joyous Tangway Grill

Famed for their sinigang na ayo (type of leaf available in Balanga, Bataan), this restaurant offers traditional Filipino food in generous servings. You'd fall in love with the generous amount of meat and vegetables that are present in all their dishes and how they balance the food taste by always complementing vegetables to their meats.

Capitol Drive, Balanga, Bataan

If you are the buffet type of person, then Ima Flora's Pamangan, popularly known by the locals as the Ima's is the best place to be. Unlimited crabs, fish, mussels, shrimps, meats, and veggies? They have it all! For less than 300 pesos, you can already have this seafood feast that you cannot find in Manila! You can also order ala-carte but the serving itself is still huge so it's gonna fit 2-3 people per order.

3. Esquinita Kitchen and Pub

If you are up for some shots or just good food that's perfect for group sharing, no worries. Esquinita Kitchen and Pub located nearby the main hotels in Balanga Bataan offers dishes that has a distinct flavor and style on its own. They have their own version of our favorite street food, the isaw (small intestines) and I love how enormous their servings are. They also have bands that perform regularly.

4. Sybilla's Restaurant

Hearty meals for breakfast or lunch? How about some amazing rice meals or this cutie choco lava cake ala mode that welcomes you to Bataan? Sybilla's restaurant isn't just accessible for motorists, their food choices and servings are some of my favorite Filipino food and fusion dishes from the restaurants I tried in Manila and of course, I have to admit that despite me having a hoarse voice during my Bataan visit, I can't stop myself from eating this dessert.

5. Marres Kitchen

At first glance, it looks like a simple restaurant but you should think twice, this is one of my favorite among this list because they have a lot of food choices from their menu and they all come in huge servings. One of their must-try dish is their tokwa't baboy in mayonnaise and their huge Leche flan. For their binagoongang baboy, they used their homemade crispy lechong kawali so it's a must-try too. Serving size here is huge and can fit 2-3 people for sharing so don't overdo it like we did.

Another place to hang out and dine in at is the Nico's Terrace Grill. This is perfect for those who want to have dinner over good music or while watching tv since the place installed huge televisions where you can watch different channels. They have traditional Filipino food and you can also order alcoholic beverages and liquors too.

Fan of sweet dessert and fancy restaurant? If you are just wanna have a good lunch, dinner, ice cream, and cakes, don't miss the chance to try Stregato Gelateria located a few blocks away from the plaza. Aside from the good food, the place is Instagram-worthy and each area has its own character that you'll surely enjoy taking photos.

9. Choco-late De Batirol

Choco-late de Batirol is a restaurant famed for their chocolate drink that's made to perfection. I tried it and even though I am not a chocolate fan, I enjoyed it a lot. They have different Filipino food and choices of pasalubong so you might want to give this restaurant a try. Aside from their chocolate products, they are also famed for their turon! After visiting this restaurant, you can also visit the Museo ng Kagitingan too!

10. The Beanery

To cap off your day or if you are looking for a place to chill and have some coffee, their local coffee shop called The Beanery is famous that you can always see a lot of people even at night.
